Dr Natalie-Jane Macdonald is the UK CEO of Sunrise Senior Living and Chairman of Nuffield Health since January 2017, the UK’s largest healthcare charity. In 2021, Dr Macdonald received an MBE in recognition of her 30-year career in the healthcare sector and for effectively leading Sunrise and Gracewell’s 46 care homes during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Macdonald has over 30 years of experience in healthcare in a variety of roles.  Prior to joining Sunrise Senior Living UK, she was CEO of Acorn Care and Education, an educational and care services company for special needs children.  Before then she served 17 years with Bupa where her most recent role was Managing Director of Bupa’s UK insurance and wellbeing division. Natalie-Jane is a graduate of Glasgow University and spent eight years as an NHS hospital physician.  She has also served as a Non-Executive Director of the Private Healthcare & Information Network (PHIN).
