Glen Sowry joined the Queenstown Airport team as Chief Executive Officer in September 2021. He has extensive leadership and aviation industry experience, having spent a decade in a range of senior management roles at Air New Zealand, including three years as General Manager of Operations, leading a large team across New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands.
Glen was CEO of Metlifecare and prior to that CEO of Housing New Zealand (now Kainga Ora). Glen is also a former Chair of the Board of Airline Representatives New Zealand (BARNZ).
Early in his career he was a professional yachtsman and competed for New Zealand in the America’s Cup, the Whitbread Race and the 2000 Olympics. Glen was one of the inaugural winners of a BLAKE Award in 2005, and became a Trustee in 2009, finally joining the BLAKE Awards Selection Panel in 2012.
